I was talking with a friend about birthstones the other day and (for some reason) brushed off March’s designated gemstone, aquamarine. Then, later in the week, I saw this art deco aquamarine beauty listed online and felt… genuine shame:
WHAT. WAS. I. THINKING. Right? Because good lord. First of all, it’s like I forgot all about one of my most favorite Art Deco rings of all time which is also aquamarine, and secondly because this deco pendant is just painfully lovely and there’s no denying it…
The necklace is from Moscow, circa 1930, and described thusly by the original seller, Romanov Russia: A richly saturated cool blue emerald cut aquamarine (18 x 14 x 8.8 mm – approximately 15.19 ct) in a yellow 14K gold milgrain setting crowned by a triangular art deco style diamond-set mount and a plume shaped diamond bail. The diamonds are set in silver over gold.
Even the description is beautiful! I am sorry I forgot about your magic, aquamarine. I promise it won’t happen again.

Not everyone can just reach into their closet and pull out the perfect true vintage art deco brooch, or flapper pearls to make the outfit sing. What’s a vintage-loving girl …
Just a quick post today, a sort of mish-mash of art deco bits and pieces I’ve found while poking around the net for content for our site. The theme? Blue! Now, I myself am quite a superstitious sort, so you’d better believe I had my “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” …
It genuinely seems unfair that someone actually owns this gorgeous art deco sapphire ring. Too magnificent for ownership! It should be on display somewhere so we can all ooh and ahh and talk about its beauty and try it on and then maybe run away with it while the display person isn’t looking…. Alright, so …
Something old, something new, something borrowed, and this gorgeous art deco feather fascinator can be your something… Something Blue No 2 Fascinator from Lo Boheme. A little deco, a little nouveau, all gorgeous.
