Up today we have a truly gorgeous vintage theater wedding, with incredible attention to detail and nonstop DIY magic throughout!
From the bride:
I meticulously organized, planned, and sourced everything for our day over two years…I am thrilled with all of the details. My mother and I worked together to make the over-skirt for my dress from scratch and we both really enjoyed our weekly “sewing” girls nights.
I designed and made all of the flowers, bridal accessories, and reception decor for the wedding, so of course I loved seeing all of it come together. My wedding gown was a thrift shop rescue- it was handmade vintage (best guess is pre-1950’s) and flawless.
My shoes, jewelry, birdcage veil, opera glasses and mother of pearl makeup compact were all carefully picked over the course of two years to have a truly genuine gatsby “vintage” look.
Every moment was amazing, but the ones that stand out would have to be the “intro” to our ceremony and our grand exit. We held our ceremony in a historical theatre so we had to incorporate that into our day. My husband made a movie that played for our guests that was a reflection on our years together and looking forward to our lives ahead.
Once the movie ended, our bridal party went on stage and my grand entrance began…. I was seated on a beautiful throne and my father stood next to me. When the movie ended and everyone was in place the spotlight shone down on us as the stage rose up out of the floor to a violin cover of Vermilion.
For our grand exit, my husband and I went outside where our “limo” was waiting (my brother’s 1956 Buick Special). Before driving off, I got to change my last name on the marquee from my maiden name to my married name.
My husband and I are so thankful for our incredible vendors (and for them putting up with the craziness, occasional anxiety attacks and all the other fun stressful stuff that comes along with planning an event). They truly went above and beyond to make sure our day was as flawless as possible. We are fortunate to have become friends with many of them over the lengthy process of planning our wedding. Our day would not have been perfect without everyone involved and for that we are forever grateful.
